Opposition research: Washington lobbyist Joan Galvin has joined Fur Commission USA as an honorary board member (only active fur farmers are eligible to serve as regular board members).
It would be hard to find somebody more entrenched in animal abuse industries as Joan! She first joined the dark side in the 1990s working for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Since then, she has lobbied on behalf of zoos and aquariums, the exotic pet industry, and in support of the use of animals in experimentation. Joan lobbied (unsuccessfully) on behalf of the dairy industry in support of a federal bill that would have banned plant-based products from using terms like “milk” and “cheese.” And she tried (again, unsuccessfully) to stop a bill in Maryland that strengthened the state’s ban on the sale of puppies and kittens in pet stores.
But the fur industry is one of Joan Galvin’s largest, and oldest, clients. She has defended the cruelty of fur farming for at least 15 years.
