According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (National Agricultural Statistics
Service), there were 278 mink farms in business in 2009. Leading states were
Wisconsin with 71 farms, Utah with 65 farms and Idaho with 24. Although the
number of fur farms has decreased (there were 404 mink farms in the U.S. in
1999), the number of mink pelts “produced” has not decreased significantly.
This list includes many farms that may have closed for good. Please help us confirm this. This list does not include rabbit or chinchilla fur farms.
All farms
are mink farms unless otherwise noted. The farms are listed in zip code order.
